The Thörle Estate dates back to the 16th century. The Thörle family owns a lot of excellent parcels in Saulheim’s Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyard sites with a large diversity of terroir.

Since 2006, the fortunes of the wine estate have been in the hands of the newest generation.

Johannes Thörle, born in 1982, studied viniculture in Heilbronn and spent quite some time working in South Africa as well as on the well-known wine estate of his neighbour, Rhein-Hesse’s organic pioneer Philipp Wittmann.

Christoph, born in 1984, studied enterprise-engineering at Technical university of Darmstadt. Before entering the family estate, he worked one year for the consulting firm KPMG.

The brothers do the winemaking together and share the work in the cellar. During the growing season, Johannes takes care of the vineyards and Christoph is responsible for sales. Today, the Thörle estate rankes among the best producers in  Rheinhessen.
