DipWSET, PhD + tRADE COMMISSIONER, Global Affairs Canada
Janet Dorozynski has been tasting, studying and distracted by wine (and other beverages and food) since discovering her nose in Brussels in the late ‘90s while trying to complete a doctoral dissertation. She eventually did finish her PhD but packed in the papers and teaching to work in and with the international and Canadian wine industry in export and international business development, education, marketing and media and public relations.
By day, Janet is the trade commissioner for Canadian wine, beer and spirits and tourism at Global Affairs Canada, where she oversees a program that supports Canadian Embassies to serve and promote Canadian wine, beer and spirits internationally. She holds the WSET Diploma and is WSET certified educator and Professional Affiliate of Brock University’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI).
Outside of her day job, Janet has been reviewing, writing, travelling to wine regions and judging at wine and sommelier competitions in North and South America, Europe and Asia for the past two decades to keep on top of wine and the industry globally. She is a principle critic and national judge at Wine Align, a contributor at GismondionWine.com and wine columnist for Luxe Magazine Ottawa. Janet is still distracted by wine and each year tastes thousands of wines from across Canada and the world.
