Kent Thompson is the Director of Finance and Food Tourism at Food Island Partnership where he works to grow the PEI food industry, including integrating food and tourism. Kent has worked with entrepreneurs or been an entrepreneur for most of his life, including growing up on a dairy farm; operating a seasonal seafood restaurant on PEI’s north shore; working as Product Development Officer with the PEI Department of Agriculture; and, leading the launch of Lucky Fox Snack Co., a gourmet snack company based in PEI.

He currently oversees the Fall Flavours Festival, a month-long, province-wide celebration of PEI food. The festival has events that showcase the harvest from land and sea, the people that harvest and produce the food, and features celebrity chefs from the Food Network and some of the top restaurants across Canada.

Food Island Partnership works with multiple industry and government partners, and this is causing Prince Edward Island to be recognized as “Canada’s Food Island”. Food Island Partnership acts as a catalyst for developing food activities on- and off- PEI that have included the Fall Flavours festival, Food Xcel (a food start-up competition), developing niche brands including Certified Island Beef, and works with people that are developing new food products including collaborating with the province's food development organizations – Canada’s Smartest Kitchen and BioFoodTech.
