When I think of Charleston, a classic port town on the east coast of the United States, the first things that come to mind are black and white film, tassels, and a fun dance sharing the cities name. Coined the Holy City for its charm and tolerance, Charleston is currently known as a bustling coastal town and cultural hub, with frequent restaurant openings, and talented chefs abound. And with the mix of freshly caught seafood and southern flavours, it’s no wonder. So whether you’re in the mood for baked, broiled, fried, or fresh, you’ll find what your palate desires in Charleston, and with centuries of history and architecture, you’ll feast your eyes as well.

Charleston isn’t all old style, however. For those who seek it, within the core’s coast of port and palms lies fun breweries, bars, and culinary creations. All you need is a stroll down King Street to know this to be true. Erin Eisele, a globe trotter and culinary aficionado, calls South Carolina her home, and acts as our guide for some of Charleston’s best and some sumptuous. Happy feasting!

Meet Erin Eisele

Erin is proud to call South Carolina her home. After nearly a decade afar, first in Washington, DC in the arts and museums industry and then a year in Northern Italy, Erin returned to her southern roots; to cultivate the connections between field, fork, and community in her old stomping ground of Columbia, SC. She currently manages a culinary retail shop and cooking school called Charleston Cooks!, a part of Maverick Southern Kitchens Hospitality Group, where she shares her love of quality culinary experiences and southern food culture on a daily basis.
