TRANSPORTATION // GETTING AROUND CALGARY

The downtown core is walkable, with many restaurants and attractions within a short distance of the Host Hotel. If you are looking to venture further (i.e. to Calgary’s popular 17th Ave, Kensington, or other neighbourhoods), you will likely want to take a different mode of transportation unless you are prepared for a lengthy commute.

ride share apps

Ride Share apps like Uber and Lyft are available throughout the city. Watch out for surge pricing evenings and weekends as a trip can easily double in price!

taxi cabs

Taxi cabs are also available throughout the city.

C-Train & City Buses

Calgary’s C-Train (light rail transit system) can help you to get to different parts of the city. If traveling within the Downtown Core, it is a free (no fare) zone but anything beyond that requires payment. Tickets are $3.60 (one-time use, valid for 90 mins). Tickets can be purchased through the ticket vending machines at each station, or through the My Fare app or the Transit trip planning app. To see schedules and plan a trip, click here. (This will also include city buses)

shared e-scooters & e-bikes

Calgary also has Shared e-Scooters and e-Bikes to help you get around the city (shorter distances - not recommended for long distances). There are two companies that operate in the city: Bird Canada and Neuron. Shared e-Scooters can travel on bicycle lanes, pathways, empty sidewalks and roadways with lower speed limits and lower traffic volumes. Share e-Bikes are permitted everywhere regular bikes can be used, and must follow the same rules that apply to bikes. Click here to learn more about Shared e-Scooters and e-Bikes.
